MINUTES OF GEORGEHAM PARISH COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON THURSDAY, 23 JUNE 2005 AT 7 P.M. IN GEORGEHAM VILLAGE HALL TO DISCUSS SOLELY THE FOLLOWING PLANNING APPLICATIONS. PRESENT: Councillor J Symonds (Chairman), Councillors Mrs J Barnes, Miss R Brian, W Foster, N Mapp, Mrs V Meek, Mrs L Slade, R Tucker. Also in attendance: 6 members of the public, Mrs S Squire, Parish Clerk. APOLOGIES. Councillor J Yeo - work commitments. 16. THE FOLLOWING APPLICATIONS WERE CONSIDERED: 1. 40260 - Ground and first floor extensions to dwelling - 6 Millers Brook, Croyde. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval. 2. 40247 - Extension and alterations to dwelling (amendments to Planning Permission 38853) - Coasters, 3 St Helens Close, Croyde. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval with the comment that the Parish Council feels that the property has come to the end of development plans. 3. 40246 - First floor extension to dwelling together with installation of dormer window - 11 Orchard Grove, Croyde. The applicant was given the opportunity to address the meeting as to his reasons for submitting the Application. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval. 4. 40124 - Retrospective application for change of use of part of field to form extension to car park - land to rear of Croyde Baptist Church, Cross, Croyde. The Reverend D Wright, Pastor of the Baptist Church, was given the opportunity to address the meeting and explain the reason for submitting the Application. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval with the additional comment that the land remains as overspill car parking for the Church community only, and not to set a precedent for additional car parking applications in the immediate area. 5. 39949 - Minor access bridge widening works - 2 St. Marys Road, Croyde. It was RESOLVED to recommend refusal on the grounds that the bridge is in a Conservation Area and any alterations to it would be detrimental to this part of Croyde. 6. 40199 - Extension to dwelling - Myrtle Cottage, Rock Hill, Georgeham. It was RESOLVED to recommend refusal on the grounds that it is over development for the plot, we also feel that it would be wrong to turn a cottage property into a modern house style property and it would thus be out of keeping with the terrace of cottages of which it forms the end. 7. 40123 - Advertisement application for the installation of 1 fascia sign, 1 projecting sign and 1 painted mural - Saltrock Surfstore, 10 Hobbs Hill, Croyde. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval. 8. 40172 - Demolition of existing dwelling and erection of new dwelling - Jack Smales Cottage, Heddon Mill, Braunton. Councillor Mrs Slade declared a personal interest, left the room and took no part in the discussion or decision thereof. The applicant was given the opportunity to address the meeting to explain and clarify the reason for submitting the Application. Councillor Mrs Barnes proposed a site visit, seconded by Councillor Miss Brian. Councillor Tucker proposed it was recommended for approval, seconded by Councillor Symonds. Vote: Site visit 2, make decision at meeting, 5. Carried. It was proposed to recommend approval with the condition that it is approved on the basis that the roof will be of natural slate, NOT mineral slates. A variation on this is not acceptable to the Parish Council. Clerk to ask for a response from Mary Pool confirming she is clear on this. 9. 40278 - Extension to dwelling - 1 Moor Lane, Croyde. The applicant was given the opportunity to address the meeting and he was happy to answer any questions Councillors had. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval. 10. 40291/2 - Internal and external alterations to dwelling including replacement of flat roof with thatched roof, replacement of windows and construction of chimney - The Old Cottage, Putsborough. It was RESOLVED to recommend approval. Given the Listed status, the building should have adequate protection into the future. The meeting ended at 8.25.
